The 23rd Chronicle
Hello Family & Friends!
So it snowed yesterday!! (Those are sad exclamation marks by the way just in case you happened to confuse them for happy ones). Sure is hard to love "that fluffy white cold stuff" when you can't carve down slopes or unwrap presents as it falls gracefully to earth... but that's okay! Really, I wouldn't rather be anywhere else. It's only just that I'm not a fan of snow when it makes things harder. Is it cold where y'all are at? This sweater weather we are experiencing is sure gonna dive into negatives this winter. So in that case, if some poor missionaries knock on your door, please have hot chocolate on the stove, a comfy clean couch available, and a sympathetic listening ear. Sometimes it's just good to get out of the cold and have a friendly smile from people who understand.
Kelci was baptized! Her father, Brother Dechaine, was baptized earlier this year. It was cool to witness as he not only baptized her, but also, confirmed her a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints afterwards. I love seeing families working towards becoming forever. That's why I'm out here and that's why sacrifices are worth it. I love the quote, "Salvation is an individual matter. Exaltation is a family matter."
So recently a member of the seventy visited (see past chronicles) and after his tour he left some instructions with our Mission President. As part of those instructions, he asked that the Elders stop wearing both matching ties and floral ties. This sure caused a wave in the mission. Tons of Elders had been making matching ties or were wearing floral's. The reactions were very different. Some were angry and wanted to disobey, some were upset but conformed to this added direction, some were indifferent or didn't care, some didn't have either a matching or floral tie so they were already okay, and some immediately sent home their stash of ties to better obey that direction. What is our reaction when our leaders give us direction? Do we follow the prophet complaining or with cheerful hearts?
Got to go to the the Winter Quarter's Temple last week! I love the temple. It was cool to be able to immediately follow the council given in #GeneralConference to attend the temple often. I hope as we go to the temple more, we will be able to recognize the power and blessings that come from serving in the Lord's House.
Kia Kaha!
