The 37th Chronicle

Hello Family & Friends!

I read an inspiring quote on the back of a cereal box at breakfast (you gotta love those cereal boxes, am I right?) It reads like this... "the separation is in the preparation". Boom! That's some serious inspiration. The separation between a missionary that can hit the field running and a missionary who takes a bit is the preparation. The separation between a member who is converted to the gospel and one who is not is in the personal preparation they commit to by reading and praying everyday. You get the idea. We will be eventually separated based off of our personal growth and preparation towards obtaining eternal life. The choice to receive exaltation isn't at the pearly gates... it's right now.

My mission scripture is Alma 48:17-18. I love it because it is what I strive to become and the reason why I am here. I'm here to become and to help others become as well. I want to see others as who they will become and not as they currently are. Alma 48 helps us do that. What is your favorite scripture?

Thank you all for the Happy Birthday wishes! Y'all made me feel remembered and loved. It's kinda weird to think 19 is already here. As I've had the chance to reflect on my WHOPPING nineteen years of life (as well as this last year in general) I find it crazy how much I've changed. I'm incredibly blessed! I have had some good times and some hard times. The growth I've gained from both are invaluable. I want to thank you for being apart of my journey! The one thing that has stuck out to me during this reflection is the fact that all we really have is right now. We can't change the past and the future is never really here so all we can truly affect is the here and now. What are we going to decide to do in this very moment to make our lives better?

Who chooses our attitude? Is it our circumstances? Is it our money? Is it our parents? Is it our siblings? Is it our friends? Is it the weather? Is it our neighbors? Is it politics? Is it the fashion magazines? Is it a recent post? Is it our expectations? Is it our past? Is it our job? Is it a rude comment? Is it an offensive gesture? Is it how many letters and packages we've gotten from family and friends in the last week? Who chooses our attitude? WE DO. Nothing has the power to affect our attitude unless we give it power. Happiness is within and not without.

Elder Norman and I go play BINGO with the sweetest older folks at Homestead Assisted Living every Thursday. It's been fun to call out the letters and numbers as well as pass out prizes. They really appreciate us coming and I know I appreciate being able to serve. Nothing like feeling appreciated! So the other day I was feeling a little naughty while we played bingo with them. It is hard for them to hear us sometimes and so they'll ask you to repeat yourself often. We always have to define the difference between 50 and 60. It's great =). Anyways you usually call the letters that spell B-I-N-G-O and then a corresponding number which could be anywhere from 1-75. One particular time they couldn't hear what we had called so they kept asking us to repeat it over and over and over. It got a tad frustrating. After they finally got it everyone was carefully looking at their card to see if they had it. The next call I teased them by shouting "Z 82" ... "Z 82"! A few looked at me like “What?"  One lady gasped, and I about gave one gentleman a heart attack. They were not expecting that. After explaining my joke everyone laughed and we moved on. Old people are hard to tease sometimes.

Kia Kaha!

p.s.  From Christine:  This first photo was sent to me Sunday evening by a member family with this comment, "Had dinner with your lovely missionaries tonight.  We enjoy having them in our home! Thank you for sharing them!"  She went on to explain that she has a missionary out too! Bless you missionary momma's out there!

Birthday packages!

Who's who?
