The 64th Chronicle

Hello family and friends!

I can't explain how cool Elder Halsell is. This man is humble, unassuming, obedient, and a third degree black belt in mixed martial arts. I mean this guy has got it all! The best part is that he is my new companion! I'm still here in Council Bluffs as a Zone Leader and we're looking forward to another great transfer. Our Mission President is helping us stress the importance of finding constantly so we can continually help people progress towards baptism rather than one person at a time. It's stretching us! We are going to be working hard to hit the YES list each day so we can find two new people to teach a week minimum. Not only that but we want to help our whole Zone do the same. We've sure got our work cut out for us!

The transition between transfers is always an interesting one. You experience a wide variety of sensations. There is a feeling of excitement, fear, anticipation, stress, concern, confusion, motivation, sadness, being emotional, and relief. There are also the many changes that you experience like a new companion, ward, district, zone, and even sometimes mission (@SLCSisters). Those changes take time to adjust to and can sometimes be overwhelming. I think it's really inspired how missions are set up. We essentially go through a mini-life simulation. We get to experience living in a variety of places and environments. We have the opportunity to learn how to live with someone that we may or may not like. We leave home and go out on our own with the responsibility to work hard daily and take care of ourselves as well as a our companion (not to mention all the people in our ward or those we are teaching). It's a lot to ask of a eighteen, nineteen, or twenty year old. But! We can do it! We can hit that bar of expectation through God. That process is painful and forces us to grow but the results are incredible.

A local church had this quote on their sign and I appreciated it... "God wants full custody not just weekend visits" -Unknown
