The 84th Chronicle
Hello family and friends!
We had Zone Conference again! The months are flying by. It was kinda cool to be back at the same church for our Zone Conference "Christmas Edition" as I was last year. I got to see Elder Norman, Elder Merrill, Elder Dixon, Elder Holden, and quite a few others that were there last year as well. Round 2, baby! Well after all the good trainings, departing testimonies, reminders, lunch, white elephant gift exchange, and all that good stuff we had our infamous talent show. Elder Andrew and I rocked the stage with what we called "A Day in the Life of a Sister". We weren't sure how it would turn out, but it actually ended up being a hit. Everyone was laughing throughout the whole thing (including President and Sister Ence) so that made us feel good. We sure had a good time planning and preparing. Nothing like taking something relatable and putting a little twist on it. Good times!
We had the pleasure to attend the Annual Lincoln Nebraska Stake Nativity Festival this last weekend. It turned out very inspiring. They transformed the cultural center into a beautiful winter wonderland. There were real Christmas trees and garland wrapped in lights outlining the perimeter. In between the donated nativity sets were displayed classic (and original) artwork of Jesus Christ. It was a spiritual event. As we walked around to view the displays, live music was performed in the chapel and could be heard in the gymnasium.
Today we attend the funeral of a recent convert in one of the wards we cover. The Sisters had taught him over the last year and he was baptized/confirmed only four or five weeks ago. He passed away suddenly. I really appreciated getting to attend. I think birth and death bring to the forefront of our minds the questions of life as well as the principles in the Plan of Salvation. Knowledge of this plan brings much peace and hope. We got to shake hands and visit with his family afterwards. They (all not members) shared with us their respect and appreciation for the church. His Mom (and Brother) especially shared how they remember how excited he was before his baptism and how happy he was after. The gospel truly blesses individuals and families.
