The 87th Chronicle
Hello family and friends!
The brief news we have for transfers coming up includes the sad fact that one of my favorite companions is getting transferred away from me. Bye, Elder Andrew! The exciting news is I'm getting a brand new Zone Leader to show the ropes. His name is Elder Chapman. The long and short of him is he's a pretty funny guy that can play basketball like a champ!
The other week we were just chillin in our car parked on the side of the road. It was night time and we had just finished a lesson. As we sat in our car reporting our lesson in AreaBook, a cop car drove past us. He went by going the speed limit and I assumed would continue down the road until out of sight. So I returned to typing when I noticed that he had flipped around and parked behind this car off to the side. This was kinda of a hood part of town so it didn't seem too out of the norm. As Cop #1 parks, he flipped on his lights and hopped out to approach the vehicle. As the interaction unfolds Cop #2 pulls up, hops out, and assists Cop #1 in arresting the dude in the car. That's when Cop #3 shows up pulling his SUV into the middle of the street blocking traffic. Now we got Cop #4 and Cop #5 on the scene with their flashing lights and fog light fixed on the car. They drove off shortly after. But wait, there is more. Lo and behold Cop cars #6 and #7 arrive on the block to help out Cop #1 and Cop #2 investigate the suspects car as well as provide a thorough scan. To finish strong Cop #8 which could've been either #4 or #5 returning arrived as they mopped it up. Who knows what happened?! Maybe not much was going on and everyone wanted a taste of the action. Thought I'd share cause I was just sittin' there, this missionary, when all the sudden a fleet of law enforcement arrived and left within a span of ten minutes.
What would it profit me? I'm just a boy from Hyrum, Utah. I'm almost twenty years old. I've left my family and friends for two years to live in Nebraska. I'm not getting paid. I left my home, job, hobbies, and school. I could be doing a miriad of other things! Yet, I'm here to share a book and a simple message. What would it profit me, at the prime of my life (to this point), to come to Nebraska and spread a lie? Please consider that as I share with you my testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon was written by REAL people in ancient America and is a record of their people. It contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It helps ALL who read its pages to come closer to Him. It is comparable to the Bible and is truly another testament of the divinity of our Savior. The record was originally written on golden plates. Those plates were delivered to Joseph Smith the Prophet by the Angel Moroni. Joseph translated them by the power of God to what we now know as the Book of Mormon. This book is true. There is no way it cannot be true. I know it and God knows it. I cannot deny that. I want to invite each of you to recommit to daily reading it's pages and praying to know if it is true. As you focus on praying with real intent, sincerity of heart, and faith, you will come to know of its truth by the power of the Holy Ghost. So what would it profit me to tell you a lie? Nothing. And, that's why I am here.
