The 90th Chronicle

Hello family and friends!

It was a wild week! We had the baptism of Kimhour Ramage, went on three exchanges back to back, attended a slew of meetings, traveled out to Crete, NE to meet a guy from Cali, contacted a bunch of solid referrals, and tried to keep our heads on straight.

Elder Chapman and I tried something interesting on campus the other day. While contacting people we attempted to walk from one end to the other keeping our heads up and eyes focused on the horizon. You know what's crazy? We both felt happier. One small tweak and boom! More joy. I find that notable. I believe this phenomenon ties back to the character of Christ. Our Savior always looked outward and thought of others. His character was to turn out, not in. When we are on our phones, our heads are usually where? Looking down. When we have headphones in, our heads are commonly what? Down (or at least we are not aware of our surroundings). When we walk, we are usually staring where? Staring at the ground! What inspired this experiment is that we both noticed every college student was a perfect model of one these examples. Heads down and body language looking just... depressed. Interesting to note that simply by looking up we cannot only feel happier but we can be aware and focused on others. Maybe you think it's silly, but I would encourage all of us to try it out sometime. See what happens! The worst scenario is you get to catch the beautiful fading sunset in live color as opposed to your insta feed.
